The Florida Association of Animal Welfare Organizations (FAAWO) is a non-profit organization of dedicated animal advocates working together to positively impact animals throughout the state of Florida.
FAAWO recognizes that every shelter and animal municipal agency, collectively referred to as “organizations”, has a responsibility to provide quality and humane care to every animal received and to be diligent in their efforts to find positive outcomes for as many animals as possible.
We are now focusing on three areas. They are:
-
Disaster Response: we must be prepared and have a clear plan of action when disaster strikes
-
Transportation of Animals and Supplies: we need to work together so that we can all succeed together
-
Legislation: we need to stand united whether in support or opposition to legislation that impacts the animals of our state
We have lowered our membership fee for all agencies to $99.00 a year to help cover our administrative cost and to make it affordable for all. In addition, we have recently elected new leadership to the board: Sherry Silk, CEO of Humane Society Tampa Bay, and Shelley Thayer, CEO of SPCA Florida. More information about our new leaders and the rest of the board can be found here.
We hope you are with us and will continue to be part of this non-profit organization helping animals in our beautiful state of Florida.
